Launch Day
March 4, 2025
Often, we spend our time looking back at where we’ve been or ahead at where we’re going—without fully examining where we are today. Are you living your best life? Or someone else’s? Is your business? Your community? And if the answers aren’t what you want them to be, ask yourself—are you growing, changing, adapting? Do you have a vision or a plan to build something better?
Growth isn’t just about getting bigger; it’s about continuously evolving, refining, and responding to an ever-changing environment. In nature, even organisms that stop growing in size remain dynamic. They take in new information, adjust to challenges, and strive for equilibrium. The same is true in business—stagnation isn’t the absence of growth; it’s the failure to evolve. That’s where strategic consulting plays a vital role: helping businesses navigate change and respond with intention.
Founding Lawson Advisory and Business Solutions is my evolution. Looking back on my career, I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had and the successes I’ve enjoyed. But when I reflect on what’s been the most fulfilling—the most inspiring—it’s always been the work I’ve done with small businesses, their leaders, their teams, and their clients, especially here in my own community. And when I ask myself what kind of work has felt the most meaningful, the answer is clear: helping others grow, adapt, and implement sustainable solutions. That’s what truly matters to me—and it’s the essence of leadership development and sustainable business growth.
If I had to choose one phrase that’s shaped my approach to work and life, it would be "Be the change you wish to see in the world." This quote has always resonated with me—not as a lofty ideal, but as a practical reminder that transformation starts with us. Whether in business or personal growth, success isn’t about waiting for the right moment—it’s about actively adapting, improving, and driving meaningful change. That’s the perspective I bring to my work every day, especially through my strategic consulting practice.
Small businesses are the backbone of Massachusetts. They make up 99.5% of all businesses in the state and employ 1.5 million people—44.7% of the private-sector workforce. Their impact isn’t just economic; they shape the communities we live in, the opportunities available to us, and the quality of life we experience. That’s why I’m committed to helping them thrive.
As I step into this next chapter, I encourage you to look back—not with self-criticism or regret, but with appreciation for everything that has brought you to this moment. And as you look ahead, don’t just hope for better times—prepare, grow, adapt. Keep asking yourself, "How am I doing, really?" so that the answer is always, "I'm right where I need to be."
